After the hustle and bustle of the long drive, we decided to slow things down a bit. My husband went out for a group ride early in the morning, which gave the kids and I the perfect opportunity to just stay put and enjoy the comforts of our amazing Airbnb. We had originally planned to hit up a few local spots and maybe take a quick trip around town, but something about the idea of a low-key day at the house just felt right.
So, we canceled all our plans and opted to stay in. It turned out to be a much-needed break from the constant go-go-go of the previous day’s journey. The kids were thrilled to have the freedom to play in the spacious backyard, and I was more than happy to let them burn off some energy while I caught up on a little peace and quiet. We spent the morning lounging, playing, and just soaking in the family time. It tried raining a few times too but that didn’t stop the kids from discovering a baby pool for me to inflate and staying outside all morning.
After naps and quiet time, we took a quick break from the relaxation to head out and pick up my husband after his ride at the expo. It was perfect timing, as we were all ready to get out of the house and do something together as a family.
The rest of the day was easy and enjoyable—nothing too crazy, just a chance to breathe and appreciate being in a new place. We didn’t rush to pack in activities; we didn’t have any schedules or deadlines. It was just a slow, easy day that gave us the energy to look forward to the adventures ahead. The kids were happy, we were rested, and the promise of LEGOland made everything feel just a little bit more exciting.
Stay tuned for Day 3—Daddy’s big race
