Vacation Day 3: Dad’s Big Race & Pool Party Fun

Day 3 was the big day—hubby’s race! He got up early and got a ride down to the start with a friend. The kids and I just had a slow morning. Once they were up and fed we loaded up the van and I found a bike path they could ride so I could get a run in.  The kids were pumped, and it was the perfect way to get some energy out. It wasn’t too long, but it was a good little workout to get our bodies moving.

After the ride, we found a local park and spent some time there. The kids were enjoying the playground, and I got to relax for a bit while they ran around. Then came a mini adventure: we decided to grab some ice cream from a grocery  store. I’ll tell you, it’s always a way better deal when you skip the fancy ice cream shops and just go to the grocery store.  We ate in the car and had the best time chatting about everything and nothing.

After our ice cream break, i had every intention of getting the kids to nap during my long drive around. It was going to be my little moment of peace on the road. But of course, the one child who should have fallen asleep—didn’t. Go figure! Instead, I drove for what felt like forever, trying to keep the car as quiet and peaceful as possible. It was nice in theory, but not so much in practice.

After the drive, we picked up Stew and made our way to hubby’s uncle’s house for a pool party and dinner. The kids were beyond excited to be near water, and they had a blast. It was the perfect way to wind down after a busy day.

We didn’t get home until late, but it was all worth it. The kids were exhausted, which meant they went to sleep quickly. Hubby was pumped after his race, and we were all ready for a good night’s rest, knowing the next day would bring even more fun and everyone would finally be in town!

Stay tuned for Day 4
