Day 7 was our clean-up day. After an incredible week, it was time to pack up, check out of the Airbnb, and head to the next stop: the state beach where my parents were camping. The whole vibe of the day was relaxing and slow-paced—a perfect way to wind down after the busy days at LEGOland and the Wild Animal Park.
The kids loved it, especially our son, who was experiencing the ocean for the first time. He couldn’t get enough of the waves and didn’t want to leave. Honestly, we could’ve stayed there all day, and he would’ve been totally happy. After splashing in the water, we took a walk along the beach to stretch our legs, and it was the kind of easy day that makes you appreciate just being present with family.
Camping is always my favorite part of these trips. There’s something so grounding about being out in nature, with no distractions, just focusing on what’s around you. The kids did fine sleeping in the van (which, thank goodness, was plenty roomy—no cramped quarters here, thanks to our Sprinter with a pop-top). But our youngest still isn’t the best at cosleeping in the van. He kept asking to go back to the beach, even at 2 AM! I think we all would’ve gladly swapped our beds for another trip to the ocean, if we could.

All in all, it was a simple but perfect way to end the trip—no pressure, just enjoying each other’s company and soaking up the last of the sunshine before heading home. The perfect reset after a busy, adventure-filled week.
