So, “roads.” I use that term loosely. These were more like ideas of roads. After a good rain, they turned into slip-and-slide obstacle courses. We woke up to gray skies and goopy trails, but also a good excuse for art projects and extra coffee.

We knocked out some morning chores and then broke out the art supplies. Stamp art, card-making, lots of coloring—basically the farm version of an art retreat. The kids thrived. I thrived. The house smelled like ink pads, crayons and possibility.

My neighbor/sister and I took the littlest into town to pick up the surprise cake for my oldest. That 10-mile trip took nearly an hour thanks to the sloppy roads. At one point I’m pretty sure the rear wheels were trying to pass the front wheels…sideways here we go!
